Canada Skilled Immigration

Skilled immigration to Canada is facilitated through various programs designed to attract individuals with valuable skills, education, work experience, and language proficiency to contribute to the country’s economy and society. One of the primary pathways for skilled immigration to Canada is through the Express Entry system under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). Here are the key components and steps involved in skilled immigration to Canada:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP):

The FSWP is designed for skilled workers with experience in occupations classified under NOC (National Occupational Classification) skill levels 0 (management occupations), A (professional occupations), or B (technical and trade occupations).

Eligibility is assessed based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency (English or French), adaptability, and arranged employment (if applicable).

Applicants must meet minimum language requirements (English: IELTS, French: TEF) and obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for foreign educational credentials.

Express Entry is the online system used to manage applications for FSWP, Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) candidates. Dream World Solutions will help you to provide complete guidance throughout the process.

  • Express Entry System Process:

Submit online application: Submit an online profile detailing your skills, work experience, education, language proficiency, and all other information/documents.

Enter Express Entry Draws: Regular draws are conducted from the Express Entry, inviting candidates can apply for permanent residency.

Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA): Once selected in a draw, you will receive an ITA to apply for permanent residency within a specified timeframe.

Submit Permanent Residency Application: Complete and submit the required documents, including police clearances, medical exams, proof of funds, and other supporting documents.

Receive Permanent Residency: Once your application is approved, you and your family members can become permanent residents of Canada.

  • Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs):

Many Canadian provinces and territories have PNPs that nominate skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and graduates with the skills and experience needed in their specific labor markets.

Candidates with provincial nominations receive additional 600 points, enhancing their chances of receiving an ITA in Express Entry draws.

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC):

The CEC is for individuals with skilled work experience gained in Canada, typically through temporary work permits.

Candidates must meet language requirements, have at least one year of Canadian work experience, and plan to live outside Quebec (Quebec has its immigration programs).

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP):

The FSTP is for skilled tradespersons with experience in occupations classified under NOC skill level B. This includes jobs such as electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters, and industrial mechanics.

Candidates must meet specific requirements related to work experience, job requirements, language proficiency, and sometimes certification from Canadian provincial authorities.

  • Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWPs):

International students who graduate from eligible Canadian institutions can  obtain PGWPs, allowing them to gain Canadian work experience.

Work experience gained through PGWPs can enhance eligibility for Express Entry and permanent residency through the Canadian Experience Class or provincial programs.
